Welcome to our SIXTH YEAR of classes at the Mountain Metalsmiths School of Jewelry & Lapidary!!
Weekly classes are set up so that everyone has the same opportunity to learn with a maximum enrollment of 6 students. It is not only for the raw beginner, but also for the experienced jeweler. You can choose to take a class on either Tuesdays OR Wednesdays. The classes are held one day or evening a week for 8 weeks at a cost of $20 per hour or $480 for 24 hours of instruction. Students will be exposed to various techniques such as sawing, soldering, forging, polishing and stone setting. You can explore surface techniques with a rolling mill, reticulation, and more complex stone setting. For those desiring to broaden their abilities, come try wax carving, mold making, or experience fusion welding with Sparkie. The Mountain Metalsmiths School also offers classes in beginning lapidary from May through November. Bring your rough or choose from ours to create a cabochon for that perfect jewelry design you've been dreaming of!

Sometimes limited funds or lack of time to commit to either a weekend workshop or an eight week class session seems like a tough hurdle to manage. Let the One-on-One option work for you. For a mere $40 per hour plus materials, you can come in and have an instructional session on a particular technique. Perhaps you are running into some problems while creating your own jewelry. Come on down, let us look and see what the issue is, and we'll brainstorm together to solve it.

Are you an educator looking for new ideas for lesson plans? Taking a class or workshop gives you the opportunity to learn new skills to bring back to your students. We can provide a certificate of completion that will state how many hours you spent in a workshop or class. Even a science teacher can enrich a study of geology by learning how to cut cabochons out of rocks. Students would study igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary samples of rock before turning them into beautiful objects fit for jewelry.
